I greatly appreciate their willingness to be open about their lives. I have always wondered why people would choose that path as I grew up in a house opposed to any type of religion or spirituality. Thank you for this beautiful documentary. Bravo. Your analysis of Malick's work ends up feeling like a Malick work. It's interesting that he uses multiple cinematographers but the camera movements end up feeling similar. I dont have the money to watch it now.i love all Shia LaBeouf's movies. i know this movie is going to be great. i cant wait to see it. Perhaps those who so blindly approve of THUG-Putin's aggressions against his neighbors can be inspired by this movie.

Of course, the trouble is figuring out what is "right" versus what is "evil, but nevertheless, a Christian is obliged to pick a side. (The famous quote from the Bible is "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. br> As portrayed in the firm, this is a portrait of a tragically misguided man who failed to commit to either the cause he was being called to fight for, or to fighting with a real resistance force against it. He refused to do either, opting to only passively do nothing. While we have no reason to doubt his moral conviction in this passive resistance, this is not actually what the Bible teaches. It is just a modern subversion.

The movie had a great cast of actors but their roles are redundant as they're always playing someone from WW2. I do think the director should have trimmed down the film to 1 1/2 hours. Instead it was a slow three hours of redundant scenes. Franz Jägerstätter was a solider for a brief period yet failed to show allegiance to Hitler which cost his life. The audience was left thinking why didn't he just flee to America. Instead he leave his 3 girls and wife behind and he is killed by guillotine.

After seeing the previews, I expected more of this movie. First of all, it's too long and some of shot linger landscapes yes, but what did it contribute to the story? My biggest complaint is: It should have been done in German with English subtitles. Most of the actors were either German or Austrian so it begs the question, why wasn't the script written in German. It's a story of an Austrian. Everyone in Austria speaks German. It took away from the story, and as one other review stated, one could not truly connect to the actors. As authentically the story may have been told, I just could not find any great merit in the film.
